Major Security Operation at Matches in Buenos Aires

The Ministry of Security of the City of Buenos Aires deployed a major operation this weekend at the start of the Professional League, with controls at the San Lorenzo-Lanús, Barracas Central-River, and Boca-Deportivo Riestra matches, held in the City of Buenos Aires. The results were conclusive: 70 minors were detained, six buses were seized, one fugitive was captured, and a total of 345 contraventional citations were issued, mostly during the match at La Bombonera, according to the Argentine News Agency. The operation also included controls on the three security rings around the stadiums and allowed for the detection of 81 fans who attempted to enter despite being banned, with 62 cases recorded in the Boca area. Additionally, 200 citations were issued to people who tried to enter without tickets or using someone else's credentials, in a deployment aimed at reinforcing control from the pre-match stage and preventing risky situations. One of the most relevant incidents occurred during the match in Barracas, where the Police detained a man who had an arrest warrant for a homicide case dated March 25 of last year. The suspect was placed at the disposal of Criminal and Correctional Court No. 9, under the charge of Dr. Martín Sebastián Peluso, while the corresponding judicial proceedings advance. In parallel, security forces detained 70 minors: 65 in La Boca and 5 in the vicinity of the San Lorenzo stadium. Inspections of buses transporting fans were also carried out, and out of ten checks, six units were taken to the police yard for lack of documentation, within the framework of preventive control over organized transfers. Finally, 21 seizure reports were issued for 1,760 products including merchandise, alcoholic beverages, and food, for illegal sale without permission. In La Boca, a 46-year-old man was also arrested for stealing a motorcycle helmet and was found in possession of two types of bolt cutters, remaining at the disposal of the South Flagrancy Unit. At the entrance to the San Lorenzo stadium, another man was processed for drug possession, and the West Flagrancy Unit was activated.
